It’s March Break! In the coming days, what will you do to keep busy? Keep reading for 10 productive things you can occupy yourself with this break.
1. Read
When was the last time you picked up a book and read for pleasure? Take the time to catch up on reading - whether it be a book that you wanted to read but just haven’t gotten to, or an article a day to keep up with the news.
2. TED Talks
Listen to a TED Talk or a podcast. A wide variety of topics exist, so choose something you’re interested in.
3. Brush up your resume
It’s probably been a while since you updated your resume… and after a busy couple months (especially with post-secondary applications), there are most likely a number of activities you haven’t yet included. Taking the time to update it now will save you a lot of hassle when you decide to apply for a job in the future - and it’s a great way to be productive!
4. Write a story
Put your writing skills to practice by writing a story or keeping a daily journal. By the end of the break, you’ll have something to look back on!
5. Exercise
Make it a goal or habit to go on walks, runs, or get enough exercise. As the weather warms up, it’s a great time to go outside!
6. Pursue a forgotten hobby
There are always the activities or hobbies we wish we did more of “if” we had more time. Seize the time we have now with March Break!
7. Clean up!
Dust your room, vacuum the carpet, or clear out an old junk drawer. Creating a tidier living space is both productive and beneficial for you!
8. Research post-secondary opportunities
After a wave of applications for grade 12 students, take the time to sit down and consider each of your options. Weigh the pros and cons, what does each institution have to offer? What else do you need to do? If you're in a younger grade, what can you do now to get ahead come your own application time?
9. Go through your emails and photostream (get rid of the old stuff)
Take the time to catch up on your emails (delete the spam, unsubscribe from those you never read or use) and/or clean out your photostream on your phone/computer.
10. Get ahead on school work
Now is the perfect time to pick up the ball for school work! Catch up on the lessons or homework you were previously behind on, or get ahead on the coursework. It’s a wonderful way to ensure you return to school as prepared as possible!
Wishing everyone a productive and safe March Break!
